Why radio presenters do not play some songs on air

It’s funny when musicians complain that their songs don’t get airplays… not all songs deserve airplays… you see, the reason why you don’t see many Nigerians… (Not those who make good music, not the likes of those whose musical career started abroad) on any nominee list for any award in the Grammys and other internationally recognised awards is because of the content of their music.

How do you expect me to play a song that from the intro to the chorus, to the verse, to the vamp, to the bridge and to the outro doesn’t make any sense. One cannot say this is the theme of this music and when they are asked what genre of music is this, they reply by creating their own genre of music… afroreggae(when it’s not a cultural group song), alternative music(when it isn’t a rock music), reggae-fuji... What are these even supposed to mean.
The content of any music is very important…the content of one’s music will determine how long such music will last in the ears of Nigerians.
Your music must communicate a message, now whether the message is positive or negative is left for you the musician, but at most, your music must communicate a message.
The music industry is getting bigger and bigger. The irony of this however is that the bigger the industry, the greater the opportunity.
You only need one song to make it in Nigeria, whatever song you release afterwards, even if it isn’t interesting will attract listeners.
When you take your songs to radio stations, it can’t just go on air, it must be widely accepted and must show an aorta of sense.
Nigerian radio stations and presenters are trying their very best to promote Nigerian music all over the world, but it will not be possible if there is no content to promote.
I will suggest musicians pay more attention to the content of their songs than trying to just match to the beat and at the end produce an empty music.
