This Retired Knicks Player Knows Who Biggie Called Out On ‘I Got A Story To Tell’
It’s one of the great moments in hip-hop storytelling: The Nororious B.I.G.’s “I Got A Story To Tell,” where he gives a detailed account of sleeping with a woman and then robbing her man — who, he said, was “a player off the New York Knicks” — when he came home. But there’s one question that’s been left to lyrical lore: Which player is he talking about?
It’s often been rumored that the guy Big’s rhyming about is John Starks, a now-retired former fan-favorite. But on an episode of the ESPN show “Highly Questionable,” Starks said not only is it not about him, but he knows who it was about.
“That wasn’t me,” he said. “First and foremost, I’m not 6’5″; I’m 6’2″, actually.” The height comment is a reference to the late rapper’s line on the Life After Death track where he says he was at the house of, “One of them 6’5″ n—as.”
French Montana Gets Somber On ‘Suicide’
French Montana is in a contemplative mood on his latest track, “Suicide,” which dropped on Tuesday (September 16).
“Sometimes I look at my son, then I picture my father/ When he looked at his son and understood his story,” he raps to open the track, which has a somber tone throughout.
There are other moments that are a bit more classically Montana, with French delivering his seasoned street talk: “I’m talkin’ 500 murders, about 100 I knew/ I’m talkin’ 500 cases, ’bout 400 that blew.”
It’s not yet clear if this is off the rapper’s upcoming sophomore album, Mac & Cheese 4, which is due in November. French told MTV News over the summer that he had already recorded five tracks with Kanye West for the project.
Plus, he’s got Yeezy, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross on his next single, which we’re guessing will be a little more upbeat than this.
Jamie Foxx ‘Turn Up’ On His First New Single In 4 Years, ‘Party Ain’t A Party’
Jamie Foxx makes his musical return after a four-year hiatus with the new 2 Chainz-assisted single, “Party Ain’t A Party.”
The DJ Mustard-produced track begins with an opening salvo from Tity Two Necklaces.
“Do not disturb sign on the door, need to record so I got a camcorder/I’m playing Pandora I might break her aorta,” he raps.
In keeping with the song’s title, the Oscar-winner sings about all the accoutrements associated with the proper turn-up: models, bottles and diamond-encrusted jewels.
“VIP wherever we at, tomorrow night we might relapse, so back that ass up like Juve, cause you already know I need that,” he sings with just the right amount of bravado.
During his promo run for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ earlier this year, the triple threat entertainer told MTV News that he was already working on his new album.
“I’m working on some music now,” Foxx said. “I just did a song with Pharrell called ‘Tease.’”

Music executive, Kenny ‘KeKe’ Ogungbe of Kennis Music may be signing a new artist onto his label soon following a stint as the guest judge on the ongoing Project Fame 7.0. Overwhelmed by the renditions from the 8 finalists at the weekend, Keke encouraged the rising stars to hold onto their dreams of becoming music stars. But he reserved a special piece of advice for Ghanaian contestant, Christian K. Amoah, who wowed the audience, judges and the Faculty members with an outstanding and unique performance. ‘Be ready to relocate to Nigeria to do music,’ Kenny told the young man, which might just be a hint that Mr Ogungbe is ready to do more than verbally encourage the contestant. Big Sean Says He And Ariana Grande Have ‘Great Chemistry’
Backstage footage at the 2014 MTV VMAs seemed to confirm that Big Sean and Ariana Grandeare a couple, but you won’t hear the Def Jam rapper put it that bluntly. When we caught up with him last week — the same day he dropped those four explosive tracks — he only spoke about their musical chemistry.
“I was the first rapper to perform at the White House, I performed there with Ariana so that was an honor,” Sean told MTV News, revealing that they have more collaborations on the way.
“Me and her make a lot of music together and the chemistry between me and her when we work is great,” he added. “We got more in the works too. I feel like her voice is crazy, [just] that that big voice comes out of her is insane. I was probably one of the first people to tweet about her music; me and her been friends for years before anything else.”
Sean and Ariana have previously collaborated on “Best Mistake” and “Right There.”

Kim Kardashian-West proved once again that she’s unequivocally Kanye West’s ride-or-die chick.
The reality superstar took to Instagram Monday (September 15) to post her thoughts about the Brisbane, Australia, stop of her hubby’s Yeezus Tour Sunday night, and insisted that fan-made videos on the ‘Net clear him of any wrongdoing in the wheelchair-bound fans incident. The Chicago rapper was accused of insensitivity for allegedly asking handicapped concertgoers to stand during his performance.
No matter what you think of the KimYe marriage, you can’t help but admire her willingness to stand by her man. And a fan-shot video of the incident seems to back up Kim’s account of what went down.“What an amazing Australian tour! Its frustrating that something so awesome could be clouded by lies in the media. Kanye never asked anyone in a wheel chair to stand up & the audience videos show that. He asked for everyone to stand up & dance UNLESS they were in a wheel chair. #JustWantedEveryoneToHaveAFunNight #TheMediaTwistsThings,” she wrote in the caption.
The “I Am a God” MC initially came under fire for asking everyone in the audience — including two wheelchair-bound fans — at his concert to stand up before he would continue performing “Good Life.” But he can be heard making an exception for the disabled fans in the footage.
“I can’t do the rest of this show until everybody stand up,” Kanye said. “And I’mma see you if you ain’t standing’ up … if he’s in a wheelchair then it’s fine — only if he’s in a wheelchair.”
Once West’s bodyguard Pascal Duvier verified that the fan was actually in a wheelchair, ‘Ye launched into the Graduation track.
Considering all of the more important news in the world, Kanye advised the media to “pick another target.” “I’m a married Christian man with a family,” ‘Ye said in his defense earlier Monday. “At my concerts, I make sure everybody has good of a time as possible, so all this demonizing me it ain’t going to work after a while.”

Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, famously called ‘Patoranking’ is one of the fastest rising acts in the Nigerian music industry at the moment. Born May 27, 1990, Patoranking is a reggae-dancehall artiste and often describes himself as the next big thing after Bob Marley. Vice chairman of the Sun Newspapers, Dimgba Igwe dies at 58
Veteran journalist and vice chairman of the Sun Newspapers, Dimgba Igwe has died. He died today from injuries he sustained in an accident.
The associate publisher of Entertainment weekly magazine was knocked down this morning by a car while jogging near his home in the Okota area of Lagos. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. He was just 58 years old.
Dimgba alongside his best best friend Mike Awoyinfa, pioneered the now rested Weekend Concord newspaper and The Sun Newspaper. He was also the Assistant General overseer of Evangel Pentecostal Church, Lagos. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

The smash hit single from Mavin records all-star collective, ‘Dorrobucci,’ has just hit over one million views on Youtube. Mavin boss, Don Jazzy shared the good news via Instagram a few minutes ago, stating his unhidden happiness at reaching such a milestone. Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic has replaced Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson as the face of make up line, Zaron Cosmetics. A source told NET that the choice of 39-year-old Dominic, is because the company wants to fortify its presence in Nigeria which would not make strategic sense based on Nelson Ghanaian citizenship. ‘I think it is because the management has seen how strong the competition is here in Nigeria and of course, every business person changes tactics regularly to favour them’, the source said, adding that Nigeria, aside being the firm’s place of birth, is as well its core market. The one-year deal with the former rep, Nelson, NET gathered didn’t favour the brand as expected in terms of brand positioning.
